You may be wondering why I have a page called free things when the plugins are already free. The answer is: I couldn’t think what else to call it.
These are just some things I’ve developed that you may find useful:
The Aerin Theme
This is a theme I’ve developed over the years. It began life as the theme for this site but now has all sorts of funky features, things I added as the need arose. It’s not some fancy all-in-one theme, it’s more of a DIY starter pack but it is so easy to style I now use it whenever I begin a new project.
No Fuss SEO
Schema Markup is become quite a useful SEO enhancment to any website. This plugin adds your schema details as a JSON script in your page head. At the moment there are only the basic fields but this can be easily expanded.
The Test Plugin
Building a plugin can be fun but getting started can be quite daunting. There are lots of tutorials and even plugin builders but sometimes you really need a plugin framework that’s ready to go. That’s what this is. A plugin that has all the admin, shortcodes and whatnots already set up for you.
It doesn’t ‘do’ anything except put some text and an image on your page but it’s pretty easy to develop. After all, I learnt how to build a plugin with just the help of Google and Stackoverflow so I’m sure you can as well.
Columns and Boxes
Touch Screen Slider
Many slider pluigns are clunky and difficult to use needing all sorts of scripts them work. This one is different, it’s incredibly lightweight and works with simple shortcodes. And it’s been optimised to work properly on all types of devices making it ideal for galleries.
Sometimes you want to hide content (like on an FAQ page) and have it slide into view when you click or touch. This teeny plugin does just that. A range of options lets you select colours, icons and borders. Everything else is managed using some simple shortcodes.
